I agree. I think tolerance is key here, on both sides of the issue.
The other day Blake was reading an article and the thread of comments that followed in the Salt Lake Tribune. A large portion of the comments were from those who did not support Prop 8 and who, sadly, weren't incredibly tolerant in how they expressed their views, using foul, angry language. Further down, another commenter (who also happened to not support Prop 8) made an interesting point. He said something along the lines of how important good, tolerant manners are. He argued that Prop 8 passed because its supporters were peaceful and kind in their campaign, rather than angry and vulgar, which was how, in the news anyway, many of those against Prop 8 were portrayed. People followed up on his comment by resorting, again, to name calling and foul language, to which he responded that they were only proving his point. I think he might be onto something.
